January

 Malta Consular Corps exchange Greetings with archbishop Joseph Mercieca, Prime Minister Lawrence Gonzi and Foreign Minister Michael Frendo.


March

 Honorary Consul Godwin E. Bencini represented Ambassador Stanislav Vallo at the celebrations marking the 50th Anniversary of thge signing of the Treaty of Rome. He assisted at the "Tree Planting" ceremony at the Peace Grove, at Hastings Gardens, Valletta.


April

 On the 13th April 2007, Ambassador and Mrs Stanislav Vallo and Mr & Mrs Miroslav Musil of the Slovak Institute arrived in Malta forthe event of this edition of "Slovak Days". A private recital was given at the official residence of the President of Malta.

 On the 14th April 2007 a meeting was held at the Intercontinental Hotel, to establish the Friends of Slovakia Association. Membership to this association will be open to anybody who has an interest in the Slovak Republic. The first committee was formed, and it will serve for a period of two years.

In the evening, a film by director Juraj Jakubiscu, called "It is better to be Rich and Healthy than Poor and Sick", was shown at St. James Cavalier. It was very well attended.

 On the 15th April 2007, a piano and vocal concert was held at the Sala Isourad, Manoel Theatre, Valletta. The hall was packed and the audience was entertained by two exceptional musical artists - soprano Alessandra Kucerova and Pianist Robert Pechenac. Alessandra Kucerova is one of the most sought out sopranos in Slovakia, and the audience present showed their appreciation of the performance by repeated applause. This was a musical evening to be remembered.

After the concert the audience and artists were invited to a reception.


September

 The Slovak Republic National Day was celebrated for the first time in Malta. To mark this important occassion, Ambassador Stanislav Vallo and Honorary Consul Godwin E. Bencini, hosted a recital by Slovak Violinist Milan Pala'a at the Sacristia Vault, followed by a reception which was held on the Valletta Waterfront Promenade.

Both the enchanting Sacristia vault and the Waterfront Promenade were most fitting venues for this memorable evening. The historic Fort St. Angelo and Cottonera across the harbour, provided a stunning backdrop to the reception and to the flags of Malta, Slovakia and the European Union, which were the focus of the evening.

Among the many guests were President of Malta and Mrs. E. Fenech Adami, Foreign Minister Michael Frendo and President Emeritus and Mrs. U. Mifsud Bonnici. A substantial number of members of the Slovak Community in Malta were also present and they were obviously delighted their National Day was being marked in Malta.

Towards the end of the evening, President Fenech Adami and Ambassador Vallo made speaches fitting to the Occassion, followed by reciprocal toasts to Slovakia in Malta.

Honorary Consul Godwin E. Bencini thanked Pillow Space Frame Ltd., Raiffeisen Malta Bank Ltd. and GlobalCapital Ltd. for their support in this event. He said that it is thanks the generosity of these firms that it is possible to bring musicians of the calibre of Milan Pal'a to perform in Malta.
