 Members of the Honorary Consular Corps,
among them Godwin E. Bencini, exchange Season Greetings with President of Malta Dr E. Fenech Adami, Prime
Minister Dr L. Gonzi and Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Dr T. Borg.
Slovak Prime Minister Dr R. Fizo, visits Malta as the guest of Prime
Minister Dr. L. Gonzi, to participate in the official celebrations marking the entry of Malta into the Euro
Zone. Ambassador S. Vallo formed part of the official delegation.

The students of St Bernadette Primary School
organised an exhibition and concert as an event called “Celebrating Diversity in Europe. The exhibition
focussed on four EU countries, among which was Slovakia. Honorary Consul Godwin E. Bencini provided
brochures, posters and other informative material for the exhibition. He was also one of the main
guests.
July
Honorary Consul G.E. Bencini invited to
give a talk about Slovakia to the students of the Birkirkara Primary School. At the end of the talk he
was presented with cards with Slovakia as the theme, made by the students.
September
Honorary Consul Godwin E. Bencini attended
the 5th International Convention for Slovak Honorary Consuls, held in Bratislava. It was
organised by the Slovak Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
October
Deputy Prime Minister Dr Dusan Caplovic paid an official visit to Malta
for talks with Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Dr T. Borg and Minister for Social Policy Mr J.
Dalli. At the end of the meeting Dr Caplovic invited Mr Dalli to make an official visit to Slovakia in
2009.
Deputy Prime Minister
Caplovic, Ambassador and Mrs S. Vallo, Economic Counsellor and Mrs J. Galoci and the rest of the delegation
attended a luncheon hosted by Honorary Consul and Mrs G. E. Bencini, at their
residence.
November
The death was announced of Slovak jazzman Jozef Dodo Sosoka, who was
recognised as one of the best percussionists in the world. Mr Sosoka had performed at a jazz concert
organised at St James Cavalier, by Honorary Consul Godwin E. Bencini in September
2006.
December
Honorary Consul and
Mrs G.E. Bencini host Christmas Drinks at their residence, for members of the Diplomatic Corps, Slovak
Community in Malta and other distinguished guests.
