2009 Events National Day 

To mark the
National Day of the Slovak Republic, the Honorary Consulate of the Slovak Republic in Malta organised a
violin and piano recital followed by a reception at the Casino Maltese.
The musicians,
world famous violinist Dalibor Karvay, and pianist Ivan Koska, who were brought to Malta purposely for the
occasion, gave an exceptional performance, and the large
audience present had
nothing but words of praise for them.
Among the distinguished
guests were President and Mrs G. Abela, Prime Minister and Mrs L. Gonzi, Presidents Emeritus Ugo Mifsud
Bonnici, Guido De Marco and Eddie Fenech Adami, and their respective spouses, Minister and Mrs G. Pullicino
and Parlamentary Secretary and Mrs. J. Azzopardi. Ambassador
Stanislav Vallo and Dr Peter Krupar, Director of the Slovak Institute in Rome were also
present.
President
Abela and Ambassador Vallo made speeches suitable for the occasion and also made reciprocal toasts to each
other and to the two countries. The anthems of Malta, Slovakia and
the European Union brought the official part of the evening to a close.
Ambassador
Vallo then presented the Slovak Ambassador’s Medal to eight individuals in recognition of their efforts in
fostering the relationship between Slovakia and Malta. This was the
first time this medal was awarded, and the recipients were: Ms Rosette Fenech, Dr Jan Balent, Dr Imrich
Molnar, Dr Blazei Kovac, Mr Norbert Prihoda, Mr Anthony schembri, Mr Herbert Skok and Honorary Consul Godwin

Consul Godwin E. Bencini thanked the European Institute of Education, GO, Malta International Airport and
Middlesea Valletta Life Assurance Company Limited, for their support of the
event.
